I can’t say enough about how impressive and charming are Dofus’ visuals. The game sports cute, colorful character models and environments that manage to be reminiscent of fantasy anime archetypes while still presenting a unique and distinct style. I tend to be pretty glowy over Ankama Games’ art styles across their various media, and while I know that the anime-inspired graphics aren’t quite everyone’s cup of tea, there can be no doubt that the attention to detail and lovingly crafted environments in Dofus are delightful. The game’s sounds and music are likewise nice, although there isn’t any voice acting or range of crazy sound effects outside of the clamor of battle. Dofus’ music is just as charming as its visuals, and can be sometimes wistful, other times rousing, although the game could use a bit more variety here.
Practitioners of the dark arts, necromancers summon the dead, wield the power of lost souls, and literally suck the life force from the enemy. Necromancers feed on life force, which they can use to bring allies back from the brink or cheat death itself.
Life force is a special type of energy used only by necromancers. Once they reach a certain life force threshold, necromancers can activate Death Shroud, entering a spirit form and leaving their body behind. Each weapon set has skills that give necromancers life force, and they gain an even larger amount of life force for kills that happen nearby. Special skills, like Spectral Armor, build up life force, improve armor, and add life force every time necromancers take damage.
Death Shroud is a special ability that utilizes necromancers’ life force as a secondary health bar. Necromancers can activate the Death Shroud ability and assume a spectral form, which has its own special skills. For example, necromancers can cast Doom, which sends the target fleeing in fear.
