Patch 5.4 Feature Preview

Over the years, World of Warcraft players of all kinds have naturally migrated to different realms to play with their friends, find new guilds, strive for Heroic boss kills, search for the most competitive PvP experiences, and otherwise try to find the right place to call home. Over time, these shifts in player population can sometimes create a less-than-optimal play experience for those on less popular realms, making it tougher to find guilds, conquer group content, and get what they’re looking for from the Auction House and in-game economy.

In Patch 5.4, we’re looking to address this with a new feature called Connected Realms. Building on our existing cross-realm technology, a Connected Realm is a set of two or more standard realms that have been permanently and seamless “linked.” These linked realms will behave as if they were one cohesive realm, meaning you’ll be able to join the same guilds, access a single Auction House, run the same Raids and Dungeons, and join other adventurers to complete quests.More game content please attention: wow power leveling support.

Our goal with Connected Realms is to give players on lower-population realms more opportunities to group up, compete, and connect with other players to take on Azeroth’s bigger challenges. That sort of interaction is a big part of what makes World of Warcraft fun, and this feature will help us deliver that experience to even more players.

We’ve prepared a short FAQ to answer a few questions we’re sure you’ll have, and we’re very eager to hear your thoughts and collect further questions in your comments below.

Q. Why are you implementing Connected Realms?

A. As WoW has evolved, we’ve seen players naturally gravitate toward a subset of very active realms, leaving behind lower-populated realms. Due to the massively multiplayer nature of World of Warcraft, certain kinds of gameplay experiences simply aren’t well-suited to a low-pop realm. By allowing players from two or more lower-pop realms to play together, we hope to give more players more opportunities to participate in group-oriented activities, helping to foster a more vibrant in-game community.

Connected Realms also allow us to link populations in a way that’s not disruptive to players, and that doesn’t negatively impact players’ sense of identity and character. Other alternatives such as merging realms would require us to force character name changes if there were conflicts, and could lead to confusion for returning players who’d log in to find their realm missing from the realm list. Some players also feel strong ties to their realm’s name or history, and we don’t want to erase that.

Q. Why implement this now?

A. Our cross-realm technology has continued to evolve since it was first developed for joining players in dungeons. It’s now at a point where we can create seamless worlds made up of multiple individual realms, and we think there are some really positive benefits to that.

Q. How can I tell if someone is on my Connected Realm, but from a different realm?

A. We want the experience to feel seamless so we won’t be indicating player’s home realms in the game world. In certain places, such as chat, players’ home realms will be displayed next to their name.

Q. Which realms will be connected as Connected Realms?

A. We haven’t decided yet which realms will be made part of a Connected Realm, or which other realms they’ll be connected to, though realms will only be connected to other realms of the same type (e.g. PvE to PvE, PvP to PvP, RP to RP). In the end, we’re considering a number of factors, including Battlegroup, population, and faction balance.

Q. How many realms will make up a Connected Realm?

A. We don’t know how many realms will make up a Connected Realm yet, and it’s likely to differ from Connected Realm to Connected Realm. Our goal is to create a vibrant and fun online experience where you can join guilds, access an active Auction House, and band together to take on group content.

Q. Will Connected Realms have any limitations?

A. There should be no limitations. We want the experience to be seamless, and we expect it work as if you’re suddenly part of a much more active realm.

Q. When will Connected Realms be available?

A. We haven’t yet determined when we’ll be creating the first Connected Realms, but we expect it will be some time after the launch of Patch 5.4.

RS3 Living New

RuneScape 3 Now Live

RuneScape 3 Now Live

RuneScape 3 is here! A new age dawns today, kicking off with the Battle of Lumbridge. Along with the hugely customisable New Interface System, the chance for fame in Seasonal Hiscores, over 6 hours of new live performed music and a range of technical improvements, it’s time to play RuneScape your way.

Please note: We strongly recommend that – regardless of your computer spec – you access the Battle of Lumbridge in the Java Client for your first log-in, rather than the HTML5 Beta.

The Battle of Lumbridge (free players and members)

Unless you’re currently in tutorial mode, you’ll be teleported straight to Lumbridge upon log-in. Once you’re there, you’ll see – in no uncertain terms – that the 6th Age has started with a bang.

You’ll meet Kara-Meir upon arrival. She’ll explain what has happened to the landscape surrounding Lumbridge; why all-out war has broken out between two powerful factions; and what you can do to help.

You’ll be able to join one of the two factions, and to collect divine tears – fragments of condensed, Guthixian energy that can be gathered through combat and skilling, both on the battlefield and off.

Each day you can collect a set amount of divine tears for your faction – more if you’re a member – and the side which has collected the most after ten weeks will emerge victorious.

Please note: the Battle of Lumbridge is a huge event spanning more than two months, which will change week to week depending on your actions. For full details of what you can do, speak to the NPCs in your faction’s camp and in Lumbridge, and look out for notifications in-game.

For a full guide to the Battle of Lumbridge, you can take a look at the wiki. Be aware that there will be some visual spoilers, though – we strongly recommend logging in and taking a look around first!

There’s also an FAQ that can be found on the forums. Again – bear in mind that there will be spoilers, so log in first and take a look around.

Battle of Lumbridge

Along with the opportunity to take part in this world-shaking battle and to take a hand in shaping the new age, there are some fantastic rewards on offer too. As you contribute divine tears to your cause, you’ll earn renown, which can be exchanged by your faction’s quartermaster for XP lamps, hybrid armour that scales with your Defence level up to 75, emotes, titles and much more. The selection of rewards will expand as the weeks go on, so be sure to take part for as long as the battle rages.

History is written by the victorious, and new worlds forged with courage and steel. Take part in the Battle of Lumbridge and leave your mark on RuneScape’s 6th Age!

Seasonal Hiscores (members only)

Enjoy some time in the spotlight with Seasonal Hiscores. These hiscore tables are run over set periods of time and involve varied areas of RuneScape content, giving everyone – veteran or new player alike – the chance for their shot at glory. Compete for the chance to wear the Crown of Supremacy (and, once your reign’s over, the Crown of Legends), and to earn emotes and titles worthy of your victory. You can view the seasonal hiscores in-game – via the Social tab.

The hiscores section of the website has been revamped too, along with the rest of the website. As well as the top player, clan and seasonal hiscores, you can also track the progress of the Battle of Lumbridge. Take a look at the hiscores page now!

A full guide can be found on the wiki.If you have questions, there’s also an FAQ. Get started now!

Please note: the HTML5 Client is still at beta stage. For those of you who want to try out the cutting-edge new client, we encourage you to continue testing it out, but please be aware that optimisation is still underway and performance may be affected.

Living Sandling

Last week, after I finished clearing Heroic Throne of Thunder by myself, I decided to take a break and go search for treasure in the deserts of Tanaris. As I crested a dune that had a whale skeleton sitting on top, I felt the wind kick up more than it normally does. So much so that the hairs on the back of my neck (and my back, for that matter) all stood up! As a sandy whirlwind approached me, it began to take the form of a Sand Elemental. Apparently, one of them survived my onslaught and followed me out there to exact revenge. I won! Haha!

Wouldn’t you know it? It left a Sand Trap behind after it died, which swallowed up one of my boots. Well, how am I supposed to kick your butt without it?! So, when you’re done with your 500 flutter-kicks and 3-minute-mile run, you get to go back to the Throne of Thunder and show these dusty fools that messin’ with your beloved Major Payne is unacceptable! Aren’t I just the most thoughtful?

If you’re lucky enough, perhaps one of them will leave behind their spawn: a Living Sandling. Scoots McCrithto has the details.

Crithto: The very embodiment of . . . well, clumped-up sand that is alive, really . . . the Living Sandling is a true utility pet providing you with some interesting strategic options. With its high health, you can use it as a tank, taking advantage of Stoneskin and pummeling your opponent with Quicksand. For the craftier tamer who likes to mix it up, drop a Sandstorm and finish your pet’s round with Stone Rush. Coupled with other pets and their abilities, this tiny bundle of desert gravel with really big fists could be the difference between winning and losing. Oh, and my name ain’t Scoots!

Just so you know, word got back to me that some of you thought my hatred of snakes was laugh-worthy. I never said they frightened me! They’re just icky and slimy and they don’t have arms and legs. But do you know what’s not icky or slimy and does have arms? Sand Elementals! And now you get to go kill some. YOU CAN’T BURY YOUR HEAD IN THIS ONE!

Come join the discussion about this pet in our Pet Battles forum. You can also learn more about the Living Sandling by visiting you need more service, please click: Wow Powerleveling.
